Mon SSD n'est plus reconnue, puis l'est à nouveau

J’ai un problème aléatoire et non reproductible avec mon PC.

Version courte : mon SSD a disparu de la liste des disques bootable du BIOS (UEFI, en vrai, je pense qu’on n’a plus de BIOS) hier soir. Après débranchement - rebranchement des câbles ce matin, il est réapparu. Ce débranchement n’avait rien fait hier soir. Je suspecte le SSD, les câbles, et la carte mère. Comment discriminer l’élément perturbateur pour pouvoir contacter le service client sans renvoyer tout le PC ?

Version longue :

OS : Linux OpenSUSE 15.1, à jour.

Mon PC a un an. Dès l’installation, j’ai eu des problèmes : l’installation se coupait au milieu, et par la suite le SSD n’était pas reconnu. Contact service client : ils me disent de changer les câbles. Je prends ceux de mon ancien PC, et ça marche.

J’aurai par la suite des gels complets du PC (plus de réponse du clavier ou de la souris, son qui boucle si je regarde une vidéo…) de manière rare mais récurrente (1 fois toutes les 2 semaines environ). Les outils de vérification que j’ai pu utiliser (smartctl) me renvoie du tout vert. Pas d’erreur. Parfois, le gèle prévenait qu’il allait venir : gèle d’un programme (typiquement navigateur ou lecteur vidéo). Seule solution : éteindre le PC, et ne pas le redémarrer de suite. Sinon, le gel arrivait très rapidement.

Je suspecte alors la mémoire vive (sans raison rationnelle valable). Je la teste (memcheck), et fini par trouver une erreur ! Je relance le test sur une barrette, puis l’autre ; pas d’erreur. Les deux à nouveau, pas d’erreur. Les gels deviendront beaucoup moins fréquents. Erreur aléatoire, rare, se raréfiant plus encore, et non reproductible : je n’ai pas contacté le service client.

Hier soir, mise à jour noyau + pilote graphique (donc mise à jour de la liste Grub sur le SSD). Ne démarre plus ; le SSD n’est plus reconnu, et ce dès le BIOS. Changement de câble (avec les défectueux livrés avec le PC) : pas de changement. Remise des anciens ce matin : ça remarche…

Avez-vous une idée pour discriminer la ou les pièces qui plantent (SSD, câbles, carte mère ?) ou pour trouver un moyen de rendre l’erreur reproductible ?

Après inspection de mon système, il s’avère que je tourne sans SWAP. Elle a disparue de mon fichier de montage (mais elle est toujours sur mon disque dure, donc pas le SSD qui n’était plus reconnu…).

Pour moi ça sent le contrôleur SATA pas content. Ce qui vient souvent, de mon expérience, d’un nombre limité de choses :

  • le contrôleur en lui-même a un défaut, auquel cas pas d’autre choix que de changer de carte mère (ou essayer un autre contrôleur : certaines cartes mères en proposent un sur le southbridge en plus de celui fourni dans le processeur).
  • un disque est mal branché. Ce peut être ton SSD, un disque d’appoint, un lecteur DVD… Et c’est régulièrement un mauvais contact, que ce soit par un positionnement approximatif ou un grain de poussière (souffle un bon coup sur les contacts, et appuie bien !)
  • un disque secondaire a décidé de s’arrêter, ou de causer du trouble. Pour le contrôleur, c’est un peu comme un mauvais contact : ce qu’il reçoit ne lui plaît pas, mais ça ne se règle pas de la même manière.
  • comme tu l’as suspecté, la RAM. Le bug peut n’apparaître qu’une fois que la mémoire a un peu chauffé, ou que l’alimentation soit moins stable suite à un usage prolongé (donc en ayant chauffé aussi). Comme pour le contrôleur SATA, les contacts des barrettes avec leurs slots peuvent être mauvais, mais vu tes symptômes ça me semble être autre chose.

4 contrôleurs, deux disques, je vais pouvoir tester ça. ;)

Bon, je vais essayer de souffler tout ça et de reclancher tous les connecteurs, et je verrai si je perds à nouveau le disque ou si j’ai des gels dans les jours qui viennent. Mais depuis ce matin, tout roule.

PS : là tout de suite, je vérifie que mes sauvegardes sont à jour. Rappel : pensez à faire des sauvegardes.

J’ai une prise SATA qui ne reconnaît aucun disque. Deux autres qui marchent, mais dans lesquels je ne peux pas brancher n’importe comment : SSD en 1 + HDD en 3 boot mais le système ne se lance pas, le contraire (SSD en 3, HDD en 1) marche parfaitement. La prise 4 marche très bien mais ne semble pas pouvoir être la prise de boot par défaut (donc il faut lancer via le BIOS à chaque fois, c’est lourd).

Là, de suite, j’ai un contournement. Merci. Il me reste plus d’un an de garantie, donc ça va probablement attendre un petit peu (après les fêtes, quand ils auront du personnel de disponible :-° ), mais le problème est (enfin !) circonscrit.
